The Labour Department, Rajasthan has issued this order immediately suspends rules about fixed weekly closing days and normal hours of operation, Notification No. S.O.20. It started on June 17, 2026.

Key Highlights:

One paid rest day a week, on rotation: Every worker shall be granted one paid day of rest per week. The employer can select who gets what day.
Limit of working hours: Employees cannot work more than 10 hours in a day or more than 48 hours in a week total.
Overtime needs records and pay: If one works over normal hours, those extra hours should be recorded in a separate register. And you have to pay them proper overtime.
Appointment letters to Labour Inspector: Employers must give an official letter of appointment to all workers. Also, a copy of each letter must be forwarded to the local Labour Inspector.
Existing benefits continue to apply: Workers will continue to be entitled to all the other benefits and protections already afforded by the 1958 Act.
Rules are made to be broken: If an employer violates any of these rules, the exemption is lost immediately. They could also face legal action.
